Timefrost Spell in Changing Stars | World Anvil

Timefrost

Timefrost
7th-level transmutation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a crystal vial containing water from a glacier that has never melted)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
With Timefrost, you invoke the enigmatic energies of frozen time, slowing the flow of moments to a glacial pace. Choose a point you can see within range. A 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point becomes an area where time is dramatically slowed. All creatures in the area when you cast the spell, and any that enter it later, must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is affected by the temporal chill.
Affected creatures experience the following effects:
Slowed Reflexes: The creature's speed is halved, it takes a -2 penalty to AC and Dexterity saving throws, and it can't use reactions.
Delayed Actions: If the creature attempts to cast a spell with a casting time of 1 action, roll a d20. On an 11 or higher, the spell doesn't take effect until the creature's next turn, and the creature must use its action on that turn to complete the spell.
Frost of Ages: Each turn the creature remains in the area, it takes 1d6 cold damage as the chill of slowed time seeps into its being.
Creatures and objects not being worn or carried that enter the area are unaffected.
A creature affected by Timefrost can make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself with a successful save. On leaving the area, affected creatures feel the abrupt return to normal time, becoming disoriented and suffering disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the end of their next turn.
  Classes: Wizard, Sorcerer
