Arecnis, God of Knowledge and Learning

Arecnis is the knowledge-hungry, prying deity representing Knowledge and Learning

Description

Arecnis' mortal body is an amorphous, eldritch abomination made of countless eyes and an incomprehensible body. Those who had the "pleasure" of meeting it describe its appearance as a pitch-black room with hungry eyes staring at them from every direction.

Personality

Arecnis is knowledge-hungry as one can be. Becoming intrusive or even aggressive towards those who withhold information from him. As the god of knowledge there is nothing that bugs him more than anyone knowing something he doesn't. Clerics and Warlocks seeking his approval shall be warned, that a pact with Arecnis comes with the loss of any privacy, since the god wants to know everything.

Divine Realm

Arecnis has his divine seat in the Citadell of Mind, an architectural masterpiece in the lowest parts of Mechanus. The Citadell is everchanging, never keeping its orientation and layout. The inside is overflowing with knowledge from all of time and space and it can be travelled by sheer willpower. Just by thinking about a topic strong enough takes you to the right archive. These bubbles of knowledge have the shape of eyes and share what they know telepathically.

Worshippers

As the deity of knowledge, Arecnis is worshipped by many scholars and sages. But also those seeking thruth, ancient and lost knowledge or the odd student who didn't learn enough for their next exam pray to it.

History

Before his Ascension in 1359, Arecnis kept mostly silent, simply observing everything it could and storing as much knowledge as possible. It exists since times before any sentient came into existence. After the first Ascension (in 0 AA), Arecnis started leaching off of the then god of knowledge, Ersni.
During the Spellplague Arecnis started revealing himself to certain, selected individuals, making them his warlocks at first and his clerics after he was ascended.
Two of his most prominent clerics/warlocks are the Lothandian scholars Justus Aurelius (Knowledge Cleric) and Panzaphir (Seeker Warlock).
