Darkwood tree

The darkwood tree is a tall and fast growing plant found only in the darkwood forest in perch. This forest has very rare conditions which allow these trees to grow. It is warmer in that area of perch due to a lower elevation, and it is much more humid there because of the Zay ocean right next to it. A small stream runs next to it along with the ocean on the other side of the forest.This creates a constant water source and wet ground. If anyone tried to plant a darkwood tree anywhere else it would die within a year.
It's bark is black and the leaves are dark green. The bark is rough but has a consistent pattern of wave carvings running up the trunk and branches. The leaves have two tips with one vein going to each. When this tree's bark is cut open a chemical called noithon is released which causes the condition, Flight paralysis.

Growth Rate & Stages

dark wood trees grow on average five meters a year for around the first ten years of their life. Then they slow to about three meters for the next few years and once they reach about sixty years they slow to three feet a year.

Dietary Needs and Habits

These trees don't need much light, in fact, if they have to much sun light they can't grow properly and they die. They need constant water and warm temperatures as well.
