The Dunkelian Kingdom (Surface homeland of the dwarves)

The Dunkelian Kingdom has a place on the surface of the Western Continent, where most mountains are including the Zanfa mountains, as well as the underground where the dwarves came from originally. Dwarves came to the surface after the Avis, the Dragonians and Drakonians. The Dunkelian kingdom was extended to the surface once the Dwarves made peace with the other races and offered them trading their ores (onyx, iron, gold, gems, etc.) in exchange.

Government

The king of the dwarves, among the dwarven court takes care of the laws. Royal dwarven guards secure the underground city while the state guards keep watch on the surface.

Defences

To make sure the inhabitants and wealth of the surface part of the Dunkelian kingdom is safe, the Dwarven guards and workers built a solid wall with a mechanically controlled gate. One wall was built because the rest of the settlement was protected by the high mountains themselves. The towers on each side with Dwarven mechanic turrets keep watch from above while two Dwarven guards are on patrol in front of the gate.

Industry & Trade

The dwarves from Dunkelian kingdom stay afloat thanks to the almost neverending access to most metals and crystals, which they can turn into very valuable armor/weapon/jewellery/etc... If not for those, there‘s still their unusual cuisine. Dwarves prefer pastries, meat from giant worms, insects and rodents and some of the very few mushrooms that are edible.

History

Before the dwarves set foot on the surface of Centurion, the underground city of the Dunkelian Kingdom was their home. The miners dug everywhere and always found either food, metal/crystal ore, monsters/creatures or secret locations. It was very risky for them to dig upwards but a group of brave dwarves made their first attempt after it seemed like the miners dug everywhere else. Once they set foot on the surface, they quickly encountered the Avis and the Dragonians in a war for territory and spreading their religious beliefs. However the dwarves saw chance and opportunity to start a new era and expand their kingdom. But first they needed to have the sentient avian and reptile races‘ consent, obligation and permission to do so. The king of the dwarves had a meeting with the leader of the Avi and the chief of the Dragonians in his palace to strike a deal. The dwarves would provide the other races with their recourses and knowledge in exchange for peace in Centurion or at least in the Western Continent and a piece of land, close to the mountains. They all agreed and everyone stopped fighting each other for a very long time.

Architecture

For spending most of their existence underground, the dwarves were highly advanced when it‘s about building all kinds of things, including buildings and security. They mostly use stones and metals.

Geography

The surface part of the Dunkelian Kingdom is a wide and mostly green field. There are only a few trees but that‘s because it‘s surrounded by the high mountains except for one opening to the east, which is secured by a sturdy stone wall with a couple of watchtowers and a wide gate.

Natural Resources

Grain from the fields, sheeps, doro doros, giant bugs, mountable spiders and goats in the hills, metals, stone, mushrooms and crystals from the mines in the underground of their kingdom.
