The mythical Sosca

The myth of the elven hero Artin is well known. It is a tale of how Artin an elf hero tames the wild Sosca, a huge bird that lived out in the sea. The Sosca was multi colored blue and green. Their wings brought the terrible winds that plagued the seas. Their bird song brought up the deep sea creatures that attacked and ate elves and shifters. The long spike like tail fathers would case the waves, whirl pools and under currants.   The most retold version of the story starts with Artin traveling with his lover along the southern coast of Efren when the Sosca flapped it’s wings and whipped it’s tail causing their boat to crash into the rocks. Artin was injured but his lover Tanila was killed. Consumed by Tanila’s death Artin spends the next 20 years becoming stronger and finding the strongest materials to build a stronger boat. Artin finds a sage that helps learn of a possible way to tame the Sosca. Artin then travels around to find different materials to make a magic collar to tame the Sosca. After 20 years Artin takes his new strong boat and newly made collar, far out into the sea. After many days on the sea battling through strong winds and huge waves before he arrives at a huge rocky island of the Sosca. There he finds the Sosca curled up on top of the mountain occasionally flapping its wings and dipping the tail feathers into the sea. Artin finds a place to land and get onto the island. Once on the island he finds the many different smaller birds, and creatures that are there to protect the Sosca. He has to avoid several dangerous land traps before he finally reached the Sosca. Once the reached the Sosca it woke and started screeching and wings flapping trying to beat Artin back and away. Artin was able to grab on to the underside of the wing and climb up and throw the magic collar around the neck. All at once the Sosca froze before succumbing to a deep sleep. Once it was asleep again the wind and waves calmed down. The magic of the collar made the Sosca sleep for several months of the year only allowing it to rage for two months casing the wild seas again.
