Shadow Whip
Basic darklight offensive spell. Forms a whip of solid shadow, which performs similarly to an ordinary whip. Unlike Hard Light, Solid Shadow doesn't directly draw energy from the soul to sustain itself, and therefore can take advantage of more conventional physics without exhausting the user. Typically taught after one can comfortably materialize and manipulate shadow strings. The difference between a shadow whip and string is that the whip is dense enough to deal lasting damage, and is not extraplanar. Advanced users can direct the whip without physical input.
Although generally an intermediary spell to the more useful shadow tentacles, competence is often a landmark in a sorcerer's career as their first truly offensive spell.
