Magical Quanta & Reality Layers

Consider existence as a series of 'layers' of existence, each layer represented as an island within a sea of the previous. For example, in the 'planar' layer exist discrete islands- the human plane, along with planes such as Fire, Storms, and Darkness. To go from one of these discrete points to another, one must cross through a lower layer- commonly referred to as the dimensional membrane in this context, or Chaos overall.
Quanta theory dictates that fundamental forms of magic (quanta colors) exist per reality, and function on adjacent levels of reality. In other words, subjectivity (green quanta, Celestial) cannot directly manipulate Chaos by definition, the two are anathema. Laws of physics, Euclidean geometry, speed of information etc. cease to exist both in the divine and eldritch.
The layers, commonly called realities, are stacked as follows:

• Celestial (aka soul)- green quanta

• Planar (aka mundane, classical)- blue quanta

• Chaotic (aka dimensional membrane)- red quanta

One interesting conclusion to be drawn is that 'consciousness' does not exist at any levels below planar.
Magic is split into three fundamental forces, each associated with a reality layer. The general unit for this is quanta, used when speaking of magical forces on an abstract level (typically when relating them to one another). Each specific quanta color has its own 'true' set of units, which vary greatly depending on the properties of the magic's relevant reality.

Celestial quanta, or green quanta, deals with the soul and thought. It's commonly associated with subjectivity, but this isn't strictly correct- rather, it has a tendency to use something closer to platonic ideals than quantifiable physical properties because it technically exists outside of the physical reality.
Planar quanta, blue quanta, or sometimes arcane quanta, is the physical reality's magic. It often acts as a latent storage of physical forces and phenomenon- for example, negative light or coldness energy. One may consider all the laws of physics are simply a subset of blue quanta, if one chooses to think of a colored quanta as the grand unified theory for a given reality layer. However, the fact that blue quanta effects are bound by the Magical Coherency Limit while mundane physics isn't calls this into question.
Chaotic quanta, or red quanta, is mostly seen in dimensional linkage and spatial warping (both arguably the same thing). Red quanta itself technically can't be comprehended by the conscious mind, but its effects on the physical world can. It's the driving force behind elemental affinities, and its below-planar nature is why inheritance of affinity is entirely biological rather than soul-dependent.
