Krakenmount

The old kraken creation story is actually true- In the times when Cotd still warred, Krakenmount's twin founders used a truly massive amount of sorcery to force a several-thousand ton kraken onto land, where they were finally able to kill it. In the process, they ruptured their souls so thoroughly that the two souls ended up relying entirely on each other for support, no longer able to truly part- even after taking the kraken's strength for their own.
The kraken's crawler-like regeneration killed off most life for miles around, resulting in a shortage of food. Ever the utilitarians, the twins realized that the kraken's flesh could function as an effective food source. With their newfound source of nigh-infinite food, the former small village was able to trade with neighbors for better supplies and eventually grow into a great city, founded in caverns exposed by the kraken's death throes. While the city's stories state that they were protecting their village, many outside historians dispute this- krakens that large simply don't go onto land. If anything, the twins likely summoned it from the depths to one-up the existing crawler ritual that most Shrouded warlords of the time used.
In modern times, the kraken's massive, stony carapace can still be seen, constructions carved into and built upon it. Food is still carved from its half-dead corpse, as nourishing as the day it was slain.
