Enchanter's Forge

An enchanter's forge is designed to keep stormglass in its liquid state. The material is very efficient at diffusing magical charge through contact.   Magical charge is important in activating most enchantment-based effects, which are otherwise simply inert mixes of various finely-ground elements. It can also be used to set dilith.

Kilns vs Forges

Enchanter's kilns share many features with forges: both are enclosed spaces lined with insulative circuit glass mirrors where ignium is burned, filling the inside with very high magical charge. However, kilns don't utilize stormglass, simply imbuing the air within a space with a magical charge. This is generally less efficient, though a necessity for lower-energy work, because the energy density required to keep stormglass liquid is very high.
