Armored Mosquito Bear

43wwx4rdiid31.png
Mosquito bears are instinctive users of blood magic, a practice known in-world as xiphaem.   Their armored plates are filled with blood vessels, allowing them to use their blood manipulation abilities to move the armor and bear its weight without tiring.   The proboscises are a stiffened extension of the same lining that makes up the rest of their digestive system: in the creature's throat, there is a large amount of the substance 'bunched up', extruded when a new appendage is required. They can also create whistles using the same mechanism, allowing them to communicate by sound and intimidate opponents.   They are capable of generating a venom which liquefies things, and spitting it using the same pressure generated for whistling. This venom is actually very valuable to locals for refining ore, as the Wastelands have no trees. Of course, the other half of its value comes the challenge of surviving the encounter.   Surprisingly, they're not natural predators. Rather, they feed upon the rivers generated by an ancient monolith commonly known to locals as 'The Lifegiver', which causes a rain of blood conciding with the neighboring regions' rainy season. In the off-season, they burrow beneath the ground and hibernate.   They're biologically immortal, and the older they get, the bigger they get. Luckily, they're not particularly aggressive. The reference scale image is approx. 10 years old. Those that are centuries old don't awaken from hibernation regularly, and can become the foundations for hills during the intermission.
