Celestial City

Founded shortly after the arrival of the first Celestials, The Celestial City managed a meteoric rise to unrivaled fame and glory and an equally breathtaking fall to utter decimation in just over 30 years.   Originally located in the Magical Forest on the eastern continent, the Celestial City quickly became home to the most renowned Mages, Artificers, Warriors, Gladiators and Thieves. There was nothing that you could not procure here, and barely any law enforcement to be seen. Most ventures seemed to operate on trust and the threat of mutually assured destruction.   In the early years, the City was famous for several things: The greatest Artificers guild the world has ever seen, working to unlock the technologies of their home world but here, in Celestia. The incredible mages guild, where one could find a master of any school of magic. This guild was responsible for creation of many new spells and enchantments, such as the Celestial Rank Sheets and Flexible Demiplane housing. The Thieves guild where gold could buy you literally anything. The Gigantic Arena, where Celestials and Mortals put a show at all times of day and night for fame, glory and gold.   And despite the incredible success of the city, it just was not enough for the founders to be content. In their quest to gain more power, Alice created and cast a spell so powerful that the city was turned into a many mile deep crater, reaching all the way to the underdark.   And so the second Celestial City was built. This time, it was placed at the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by a dome. Just as glorious as the first one, however the new locale proved quite problematic. Just as well as it was able to keep enemy armies away, it also kept all the citizens in, should they be unable to afford the hefty teleportation fee.   When the gold crisis hit, Celestia was on the brink of collapse, and all founders but one fled the city. Only the selfless and compassionate Nathan Deus remained, and with some help from his friends established a new currency and managed to relieve the economic situation.   Things were looking up for Celestia, as Nathan went around solving one problem after the other - deported all the homeless people, kicked out the main source of the cities income (the thieves guild), and took bribes from Tara, an alchemist with about as much morals as the devil himself.   When Nathan went missing at the close of year 27, Tara took it upon herself to finish what he had started. After gaining control, Tara decided that it’s beneath her to run a successful city, and instead turned the Celestial City into a deathtrap. Everyone who tried to leave was redirected into an Essence Chamber and simply liquified.   The city's final days came in year 32. Having woken up from his 5 year nap, Nathan Deus took stock of what remained of the town. It was… unsalvageable. So Nathan did what any good leader would do - teleported all the survivors into the Essence Chamber, and sunk the city.
