Bradgada

Bradgada is the former capital of the Kingdom of Isendree. It was founded by King Dragos in 339 AvGa and was burnt to the ground in 250 AnCog. The fire was started in the palace by King Lotaro. After the city was burned, then Prince Calogero claimed to have been with his father when the fire started and has the only true account of what happened that night. Although it is taboo to question the monarch, particularly those of great renown, many historians question Calogero's account. Several different versions of the story exist, all of which he claimed were true, and they do not align with the account of his wife or the remaining members of the palace staff.   As Calogero told it, the king had "gone mad" and believed his son wished him dead so that he could assume the throne. King Lotaro then confronted the prince and even after Calogero stated that none of his father's "delusions" were true, the prince claimed, that the king did not believe him. As the discussion escalated, the king took a torch and lit the room aflame. The fire moved around the palace very quickly. There is even some evidence that there were multiple fires from different parts of the building, although this detail is not part of the prince's story. From the palace, the fire spread to other buildings on the compound, and then to the surrounding city. Calogero makes no claim to know what happened to his father after this as he quickly left to move his wife, mother, and child from the palace. That said when the king's body was eventually found, he appeared to have more injuries than just burns. Little is known about this though as Calogero refused to have his father's body examined and buried him privately.   Late in his life, King Calogero banned anyone from visiting or recovering anything from Bradgada. Because of this its exact location is no longer known, and all knowledge of the city has dwindled to the remaining written records.
