    The Beginning
    Era beginning/end

Long before the great cities, before the Formless Pantheon was discovered by the mortal races, the lands of Capriox were abundant with visual beauty. Countless species of animals and creatures alike resided in harmony with nature; huge forests spanned the southern section, split from a northern tundra by a vast mountain range. To the west, the plains and savannahs, and by the southern borders, a harsh and unforgiving desert. Small islands lie to the north and south of the continent, each with their own respective biomes, one home to an active volcano.   Soon, the mortal races took to the seas, and colonized the lands of Capriox to claim it as their own. Many species were hunted to extinction, as the nomadic tribes traversed the expanse of the continent. Amongst these tribes, were a few notable groups: The Tribes of Ædelné, Dimec, Nokala, Rahm, and Tsaerei.   Each tribe eventually discovered a sacred rite of their own, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. Thus, the Great Cities were formed, and Great Cathedrals erected in the name of their Formless Gods, manifesting their presence in the lands.

    The Founding of Ædelnith
    Founding

In the beginning, when the nomadic tribes traversed the expanses of Capriox, a particular tribe discovered its very own Sacred Rite, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. Songmaster Géidde Ædelné was the tribe leader, and the one who discovered the Sacred Rite, eventually communing with a Formless God. This would become known as the Great Communion, in which a member of mortal race was granted audience with a previously unknowable deity. It was through this communion that a modicum of wisdom was imparted on Géidde, and the Great City of Ædelnith was founded.   With the construction of the city also came the construction of the first Great Cathedral, in which Géidde worked closely with a sculptor to create an idol of the God he communed with, granting the deity a visage and a name: Yuirr-Aelde, the Formless.

    The Founding of Dimescla
    Founding

In the beginning, when the nomadic tribes traversed the expanses of Capriox, a particular tribe discovered its very own Sacred Rite, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. The Tribe of Dimec, lead by High Priest Vaeril Dimec, was a nomadic priesthood of divine order. Collectively, they found and secured their very own Sacred Rite, and High Priest Dimec used this to be granted audience with a previously unknown member of the Formless Pantheon. It was with this communion that a modicum of wisdom was imparted on the High Priest, and the Great City of Dimescla was founded. It was also during this communion that Dimec was shown a glimpse of his personal deity, burning his eyes out of his head.   Alongside the construction of the Great City, was the construction of the city's Great Cathedral, a place to worship their newfound God. An idol was sculpted in the deity's likeness, granting it a visage along with a name: Vosig-Elma, the Guiding Light.

    The Founding of Nokala
    Founding

In the beginning, when the nomadic tribes traversed the expanses of Capriox, a particular tribe discovered its very own Sacred Rite, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. The Tribe of Nokala, lead by Potentate Elenwe Nokala, was a nomadic group of Preceptors of the Sorcerous Arts. Collectively, they found their very own Sacred Rite, granting themselves audience with a previously unknown member of the Pantheon. It was through this communion that a modicum of wisdom was imparted amongst the Preceptors, and thus the Great City of Nokala was founded. Named after their Potentate, who during the communion was shown a glimpse of her personal deity, and was immediately transformed into an immovable mass of writhing flesh and bone. It is unclear whether the Potentate is still alive; due to it's immobility, the City was built around it, with the Great Cathedral constructed directly atop the Potentate, acting as a sort of catacomb. It is within the cathedral that their deity was granted a visage, and a name: Tel-Myrre, the All-Knowing   After the loss of the Potentate, a council was formed of the remaining Preceptors, and thus began the rule of the Veridian Academy, of the Great City of Nokala.   Rumors are told of a way into the depths of the Cathedral, known as the Nox Aeternum; an infinite library holding all things known and knowable. It is told that this is the very catacomb which houses the First Potentate, and it could very well be it is because of the Potentate that the Nox Aeternum exists in the first place.

    The Founding of Terramoran
    Founding

In the beginning, when the nomadic tribes traversed the expanses of Capriox, a particular tribe discovered its very own Sacred Rite, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. The Tribe of Tsaeri, led by the Merchant King Agatha Tsaeri, was a nomadic group of merchants who built a trading post at the very center of the continent. It was here that King Agatha discovered his very own Sacred Rite, and was granted audience with a previously unknown member of the Pantheon. It was through this communion that a modicum of wisdom was imparted on the King, and thus the Great City of Terramoran was founded.   While the city was being constructed, so was the Great Cathedral built upon the very trading post in which King Agatha found his Sacred Rite. It was in this Cathedral that the deity was given a visage, and a name: Oernu, Guide of the Euler

    The Founding of Rahm
    Founding

In the beginning, when the nomadic tribes traversed the expanses of Capriox, a particular tribe discovered its very own Sacred Rite, and communed with a member of the Formless Pantheon. The Tribe of Rahm, lead by the Great Warrior Hnefi Fjallsins, was a nomadic warrior tribe dedicated to the glory of battle. After hearing of the other four great cities, Hnefi took to solitude in search of his own Sacred Rite, only to find naught but the barren wind. In a moment of great despair, Hnefi eradicated the remaining nomadic tribes by his own hands, and it was with this bloody genocide that he did discover the Sacred Rite which he so desperately sought, granting him audience with a previously unknown member of the Pantheon. It was this communion which imparted a modicum of wisdom unto Hnefi, thus founding the Great City of Rahm. It was also during this communion that Hnefi gained unimaginable strength, and became the most feared leader out of all the Great Cities.   Alongside the construction of the city was the construction of the Great Cathedral. It is told that Hnefi himself took a block of immaculate marble, and in one fell swoop, smashed his bare hands into the stone, crumbling away all but the figure which would come to represent his personal God, granting it a visage and a name: Chipultes'c, Vestige of War

    The Formless Pantheon
    Celestial

Previously, before the rot plagued the lands, the Formless Pantheon was worshipped by all those who inhabit the world. These were the names that humanity attributed to the various members of the Pantheon:

    • Oernu, Guide of the Euler
    • Tel-Myrre, the All Knowing
    • Vosig-Elme, the Guiding Light
    • Nothetholyr, Protector of the Fallen
    • Yuirr-Aelde, the Formless
    • Chipultes'c, Vestige of War
    • The Father of Complete Order
    • The Mother of the Chaos Rite
In each of the five Great Cities lies a Grand Cathedral; a place of worship for the pantheon. It is generally understood that the cathedrals were a place of communion, mainly used as a method to receive a modicum of guidance; though minute, this fleeting imparted wisdom is the direct source of reason as to how the Great Cities acquired their titles.
