Long ago, in a time before time, there was Emptiness. Emptiness consumed all and was never satisfied. Into this Emptiness came a force who refused to be named, to be given form, and could not be consumed. This force strove against Emptiness and contained it. The force studied Emptiness and created Hope to fight it. Hope was the light and Emptiness the dark. Hope enveloped Emptiness, but could not destroy it. The sparks of the constant battle between Hope and Emptiness formed the elements, which coalesced at the heart of Emptiness. As the elements fought for balance, a planet was formed. To keep Emptiness from gaining control of this planet, this new world, Hope perforated the prison shell and allowed its light to shine through the darkness of Emptiness. This light is the heavens, the stars, and Emptiness strives to fill the breaks for all eternity.   Meanwhile, the planet was in turmoil as the elements warred and compromised again and again. From this turmoil, life began beneath the countless stars. When Hope saw this life, it separated a piece of itself and forced it into the Emptiness. This piece was named Sune, the sun, and lit and warmed the planet and brought forth plants for new life to feed on. Sune kept watch over the world as it circled around and sent forth Hope’s blessings to Life. Emptiness saw this and became enraged. From this spark of ire, Monus, the moon, was formed and sent into orbit as far opposite the sun as possible to spread the despair of Emptiness while Sune was busy watching ove the other side of the globe.   Thus it has been ever since, while the elements still war against each other and create new life in their own ideals, leaving each new lifeform to fend for itself - a constant experiment that ever changes. Empires rise and fall. Adventures live and die in this world where gods are active and yet distant creators.
