Scattered throughout the sprawling expanse of the continent, enigmatic monoliths stand as haunting relics from a bygone era. These stone sentinels cast a sense of eerie foreboding upon the landscape, each one a testament to a lost civilization's mysterious knowledge. They defy gravity, their angles sharp and angular, as if they challenge the very laws of physics, while others lay broken and decayed, succumbing to the inexorable passage of time. A select few, those in the uncharted north, remain defiant, their imposing presence a testament to their resilience against the ravages of ages. Though I have not had the chance to confirm if any of those are still standing.
Constructed from weathered and battered limestone, all the monoliths share a similar form; a square base supporting an intricately etched pyramid at their zenith. However, it is the runes etched into these enigmatic structures that truly confound those who dare to contemplate their meaning. These colossal stones bear inscriptions of ancient symbols, runes that defy any known historical record. These symbols, unlike any other in the annals of time, seem to hold profound significance to the eldritch abominations that stalk the continent's shadows.
At times, the eldritch horrors gather around the monoliths, gazing upon the runes etched into the stone as though deciphering some hidden language. This peculiar behavior suggests that these monoliths may hold the key to understanding the eldritch forces that pervade the continent. It is whispered among scholars and sages that these monoliths have existed since the very inception of the continent, serving as an enduring prophecy of the encroaching Shroud.
