Description
The Irhrai are a group of deranged lunatics that have succumbed to the Madness since long ago, or perhaps they’ve accepted the Madness. Either way, they are a group to be only wary of. The Irhrai believe that the eldritch beings are a force of goodness for the world. According to their philosophy, Madness is a cure to humanity’s faults, and the Shroud is like a chrysalis, containing the evolution of the world and those within it, waiting to metamorphose to greater heights. This philosophy only gets them killed time after time. There is no such thing as a deific force of good, or any creators watching over us, or whatever nonsense they spew.
Repeatedly, they partake in sacrificing other people in some sort of ritual that they presume will gain them favor with the eldritch beings, thinking that they will be reborn in their new world. Most of the time, they take random people who dare to venture into the Shroud, and on rare occasions, take civilians from larger settlements to sacrifice in a truly horrendous ritual. Apparently they also view it as a pleasure to be sacrificed with their innards strewn across the ground and their corpse set ablaze so that they can “pave the way for a brighter future.” They are truly insane. It is no wonder they venture to seek out the Rhyggdanus and others like it and kill themselves in the process.
