Hi! I’m Brooke, and I’m your “Exceptionally Gifted” Carpenter. I’m plenty excited to be here with all of you, and I hope we can all be friends. I’m here from out in the middle of nowhere, Texas, where I’ve spent the better part of my life so far on my family’s cattle ranch with my mom, dad, brother and two sisters. I was homeschooled all the way through high school, so Cain is actually going to be my first experience in a real school. I’m most excited for the social aspect of college, because I’ve hardly met people in my life outside of a professional context. I consider myself a hard worker who’s fully dedicated to whatever I put my mind to, and that means both work and play-- when they’re not one and the same already.
There’s nothing I like better than the satisfaction of a job well done, but that’s not to say I don’t have interests outside of my work. I love to learn new skills and work outdoors, so my hobbies include fishing, hunting, and all that outdoorsy stuff. As of the time I’m writing this, I haven’t had a look at what sort of clubs and extracurriculars the University has to offer, but I’d be very interested in one that involves being outdoors or working with my hands, like gardening, or else an outreach or advocacy program that I could get involved with, like building sheds for inner city LGBT youth or something. I don’t really know if inner city LGBT youth need, but if what they need happens to be something I can help with, I’d love to be a part of that, because I happen to love helping people.
