Olton's Shields

Olton's Shields, founded by Olton Dayne after the discover of the dwarven wall in the norhern Giant's Teeth Mountains was mainly created to man the wall and guard the realm against incursions from the Frost Giants and other dangerous creatures out of the frozen north. They have in recent centuries lost much of their fighting power and renown as giant attacks have become less and less frequent and fewer nobles and commoners were willing to spend their lives living in the cold north without the prestige that used to be connected to being part of the Daynes' honour regiment.
Joining Olton's Shield a man or woman forfeits their past connection and family ties to become an honorary member of House Dayne, technically with a claim to become head of the family but only if all trueborn Daynes have died - a circumstance that has yet to occur during the kingdom's history.
