A world of advancement and technological wonder, thrown into an uncertain future by magical powers unknown. Lands torn asunder, people and places forever changed, new and untapped potentials revealed. Such an event was never planned for, and no scientific methods could have predicted what would happen. When worlds tore apart, and borders fell, everything they knew shattered like a destroyed mirror. All that was left were the pieces, a necessity to rebuild, and an urgent need to understand - what happened, why it happened, why *us* - and if it would happen again.   The Shattering: A catastrophic event occurring some 250 years ago. It is assumed that the cause of such a major world event was goings-on in dimensions beyond our understanding or reach that bled through to our world. The scientific population as a whole is unsure of where such an even would even be able to bleed through, though some fringe-physicists posit that black holes may not be simple gravity wells, but potential gateways through an abyss to other worlds entirely.
