Fyossi, The Arcane Wellspring

Goddess of Knowlage Fyossi

" I have dedicated my life to the study of the arcane. I traveled to the Witches Coast at the age 7 and studied in the Universalist Tower learning all I could about the arcane arts and rising through the ranks. Eventually, I became the Archmagician and had access to all of the knowledge that all of the towers had accumulated over the years. It took me 60 years to get to the point where I was confident enough in my abilities that I decided to seek out my Goddess and the source of all magic, Fyossoi. I prepared the ritual meticulously and checked and rechecked my runes to ensure they were correct because after all I was an old man now and this was my one and only chance to meet her and record the knowledge she bestowed upon me. As I began the ritual to send myself to the crossroads I started to feel afraid not of the place I was going but of what might happen to me while I was there. Could I ever come back, would I even want to? So much knowledge awaited me on the other side. As I was thrust into the Crossroads I felt my entire body compress into itself every bone feeling like it might snap at any moment, all my muscles being stretched and contorted in ways I never knew possible. After a moment however it stopped and I stood the Crossroads breathing heavy from the exertion, my body had just experienced. Everything was gray and lifeless, souls wondered the Crossroads attempting to find rest, psychopomps cloaked in robes of pure shadow guided some of the lost souls where they belonged. None of them, however, paid any attention to me, this was a relief. I had anticipated a fight on the other side but no, I am all but invisible to the beings here. I marveled for a moment longer and then moved on to find the spire that would lead me to the Amaranthine Athenaeum. Knowing the chaos that is the Crossroads I approached the different spires with extreme caution examining them carefully for any indication of the plane that it truly lead to. After searching 6 different spires I finally found it. A spire that upon the first examination seems to lead to X'ivus the realm of L'azarak but upon closer examination, the Spire has the history of the Gods carved into its stone in celestial insinuating that this spire leads to a realm of structured history and not a realm of madness. I stepped through the portal confident that I was correct, what awaited me on the other side proved so. A library that was ever-enduring and ever-expanding filled my view, the smell of books as old as time flooded my nostrils and it was exhilarating. I had never felt such joy in my life as I did at that moment. I started wondering the isles of this library just taking in the amount of information that was here, I almost had forgotten my reason for coming here. I pulled myself away from the shelves in search of Fyossoi and found her much more quickly than anticipated. Setting in high back chair weaving together what I could only assume was was an arcane spark destined for a newborn sorcerer was a woman who appeared to be in her mid or possibly late forties with braided white hair that came just bearly past her chin. Her eyes were orbs of shifting blue and purple energy and she was wearing a sky-blue robe. As I approached her I was a giddy as a child with a new toy in anticipation of talking to her. " My lady I am but a humble scholar in search of knowledge. I have dedicated my entire life to this pursuit. I have traveled a long way to be in your presence and ask a boon of you." I said to her in the humblest voice I could muster. " What boon do you seek young man," she replied in a voice as soothing as a mothers and full of the wisdom of centuries past. " I seek the knowledge of how to create a "perfect" spark. Such as the one sorcerer's posses. I am what is known as a wizard, we have been able to create an imitation of a spark allowing us to cast spells but we must study hard and keep track of our spells in books and prepare them every day. What I seek is the knowledge of how to create a spark that would allow us to cast spells spontaneously instead of having to prepare them every day." I pleaded to her almost begging with tears in my eyes remembering all the hours wasted preparing my spells instead of bettering my studies. " And what would you do with this knowledge. I once gifted powerful knowledge such as this to another and it brought only pain and devastation." This time her voice was judging and inquisitive. " I only seek to make the lives of those like me simpler allowing more time to improve instead of wasting hours on preparation." I was no longer begging but was instead determined to defend my case. She considered for a moment before saying in a voice lased with caution " very well, I will give you this boon because you are one of mine and I can see your intentions are pure." she waved her hand and a tome appeared in my hands. I nearly began to weep but kept my composer as I thanked her with every ounce of my being. She nodded and went back to weaving her work weaving a spark. I left her realm proud of myself and excited to return to my home in the coast. As I exited the Crossroads I did not find myself back in my study in the Universalist tower, I instead found myself in a foreign land. I suppose it was not so bad, this was a new place full of new things to learn and I had my boon." - Excerpt from the recovered journal of Alastor Doral, The Multifaceted Magician

Personal history

Fyossi is the one Goddess that nearly everyone agreed was needed to replace one of the "Dark Gods". L'azarak had grown to know all that it believed there was to know until one evening when it asked the creator for knowledge that was not meant to be known by anyone but the creator. The creator whispered the secrets of the universe to L'azarak breaking its mind beyond the point of insanity. In his madness, he had begun to bestow sparks to random individuals granting them a glimpse of truth and causing them to go insane. Fyossi was the first of the "New Gods" to be created due to the pressing need for someone to replace L'azarak. All of the "Dark Gods" agreed that L'azaraks time was up. Fyossi walked into the realm of L'azarak which was once a beautifully organized library bursting with knowledge but was now in total disarray, now a reflection of the madness within L'azarak. L'azarak had already wandered out of the library and into his new realm leaving the library devoid of all souls. Fyossi quickly fixed that. She reorganized the library and restored it to a better state then it had been in since its creation. Now known as Amaranthine Athenaeum Fyossi's realm is hidden away from most but not all.
