The Draconian Calamity on the Sword Coast

Let this serve as the top level "Main Story Quest". For this campaign we are including all content from the main official Players Handbook (PHB) as well as any content from the Sword Coast Adventure Guide.         This is the saga of Caelum - A story about A Human Druid named Plumeria (played by 'Alyss' / Elyse), A Half-Elf Bard named Lyrei (played by 'Valda' / Ben T.), A Dragonborn Warlock named Torrin (played by 'BK' / Ben Z.), A Dwarf Fighter named Fargrim (played by 'Anki' / Jeremy), and A Human Fighter named Barret (played by 'Souvlaki' / Kevin). { DM's note: And DM'd by 'Novah' / Adam) }   This band of misfits currently finds themselves in the Oasis Theater, the best and only theater of the Calimshan District, and one of the best in all the City of Baldur's Gate. They are all enjoying themselves watching a play being put on by a local theatre troupe for the festival of Midsummer!   A young Gnome gives his fiercest dragon roar, much to the delight of the theatergoers, especially to the delight of a certain older Gnomish couple. The kid had probably been practicing for months to prepare for the festival. Maybe something even more special was planned for the Shieldsmeet Celebration that was to follow. It was a relaxing summer of generally expected merriment. The play was no exception.     After some time, and more squeaky Gnomish roars, each roar getting better and better as the up-and-coming thespian shook off the acting jitters, the glorious sunshine changed starkly.   Suddenly, what was once a clear and empty sky, was replaced by dense, dark, low rolling clouds.   In an instant, the audience went from hearing a playful roar, to hearing the booming echoes of a deafening dragons roar. It echoed in the distance, and through the dense fog, a few moments later, the group was able to catch a glimpse of a black dragon’s wing.   Immediately, panic consumed everyone. Why today of all days?   Though it seemed like an eternity, after a few minutes, the dark clouds dissipated in a southernly direction, the perhaps ill-fated direction of the small village of Beregost where they had been staying for quite a while. What they decide to do next, is up to them!
