Chapter 3: The Book of the Raven

A black book full of raven peck marks was delivered to the party by Fembris Larlancer in Baldur's Gate.   The book itself had no author or a name, and was informally labeled by Fembris as 'The Book of the Raven'.   Contained within it, was the account of a woman fallen ill who was being taken care of by a group of Vistani  Vistani travelers. The 30 page book ends abruptly mid sentence, with the last few pages being blank. Upon final inspection, a map of mystery was found tucked in the empty pages of the book.   On the map were some nondescript locations and other landmarks which the party had never heard of. It also was labeled with the following prose:   "Follow the trail To the Hand and Horn, Past Threetree Hill, Over river worn, To the Wyrm's mark. In the foggy moors West of there, The treasure's yours."   The map mentioned some geologic locations by name, and a small Hamlet by the name of "Wytchway".   Local historians were not familiar with any of the geologic locations nor any place named Wytchway. After further study, it was realized by a historian that the map was very old. After looking at maps from older time periods, the historian was able to point the group in the direction of the X hills, which was about a tenday and a half to the west of Baldur's gate on foot.   And so, the party gathered supplies and set off on their journey.   The first night was relatively uneventful. Meria avoided a net trap, and Torrin hunted a hare. On their second day of travel, the party found some crabs who started skittering in their direction. Taking that as a threat, the party engaged only to provoke the wrath of a Giant Crab which joined the fray presumably to help the littler ones. A few crab nibbles and friendly fire later, roasted crab became the meal that evening before everyone went to sleep, stomach satiated and adventuring spirit quelled, for now.
