Under the magical powers granted by Thaddeus and lesser gods, humans slowly but surely increased their technological capacities. But when the pistol was invented, humans rekindle the fires of invention, becoming powerful enough to threaten Thaddeus, Master of the Unforeseen, the king of the gods. He stopped teaching and granting humans magical powers, except for a select few sworn to uphold his throne, who became known as The Order of the Feather, the only known divine casters. Without magic, humans could not comprehend their inventions or sciences, and were thrown into a dark ages. Eventually, their craftiness led to the discovery and advancement of arcane magic. Thaddeus, unnerved by the invention, ordered the Order of the Feather to wage war against the arcane casters. They complied, and The Great Schism of Caelinia began, and has ravaged the land ever since.
