Today, over three thousand years since the founding of the Arcanis Empire, Meranthis appears to be at relative peace. In the northern lands, the True Kingdom holds a territory larger than any in all of Meranthis, united under the rule of the young Queen Arienh Amarates. The mystical fey kingdom of Elderwyld prospers with the leadership of the Elf Queen Sariel, and the dwarves of Cinderhearth, led by Mountain King Balgrim Ironborn, continue to endure in their great halls, always mining and growing their vast treasure hordes, while combating the shadows that creep beneath the earth.   Two new peoples have sprung up in the years since the Age of Memory, known to the world as halflings and gnomes. While the origins of the gnomes are clear – a race of feyfolk uplifted by the elves of Elderwyld – the halflings true origins remain a mystery, only that they one day appeared in the foothills of the True Kingdom, where they had established small villages for themselves. Whatever the case, both have been accepted for their kind, if odd, natures.   South of the Long River, the great Triton kingdom of Lemuria endures in the vast ocean of the south, led staunchly by the Coral King Nerus, forever defending the world against threats that encroach from the deep. The lands sundered long ago by the arcanist-lords known as the Broken Islands remain sheltered in mystery, though the few who have come to the mainland from the island are regarded as somewhat odd. Half-orcs and refugees from Damalith populate Skyholm, carving a rugged life for themselves amidst the harsh lands and the native goliath. In Damalith, war and strife continues as rebel warlords clash with a tyrannical upstart emperor, all the while fending off raids by marauding orcs and other desert dangers.
