Mist in the Morning of the Cherished Shores Clan

Mist in the Morning (a.k.a. Mist)

A graceful dancer and acrobat with sticky fingers, Mist is well-known throughout Bunny Grotto. Her love of "collecting" buttons and jewelry occasionally gets her into trouble, but she mostly focuses on her art, dancing and tumbling for the entertainment of others. Sometimes, though, she wishes for more, longing for adventures like those of the folk-hero, Brave Spark. If only there was something more...

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Lithe and nimble, this dancer and acrobat is tall and slender.

Body Features

Like all Tabaxi, Mist has a functioning tail and ears.

Physical quirks

Her eyes are quick and seem to catch everything, and her ears are always twitching and moving.

Apparel & Accessories

Her grey fur forms a background that shows off her red entertainer's costume. It is convertible from a dress to a long, split tunic and hose by simply removing the underskirt. She wears thin leather slippers or goes barefoot for better traction in the cobbled streets.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Mist had a happy childhood, growing up as a member of the Cherished Shores Clan. Being the youngest of her generation, she tended to get away with almost anything, with a smile and a tilt of the head. It contributed to her later roguish ways. Her main caretakers were Swift Dream, a potter and artisan, Shadow of a Star, a mystic and fortuneteller, and Dew on the Grass, who sold Swift's pottery at the marketplace.   Shadow of a Star was the one who kindled her love of the iconic Tabaxi hero, Brave Spark and all their adventures, and Swift Dream encouraged her love of the arts. Dew on the Grass was a terrible gossip, themselves, and would often take Mist to their selling booth, where they traded as much in rumor as they did in pottery.

Education

Like most Bunny Grotto citizens, she studied a basic education at the local school. She then went on to apprentice with Drop in a Pond (Tabaxi, Male) at the Velvet Mists Performing Arts Troupe.

Employment

Lead dancer and acrobat with the Velvet Mists Performing Arts Troupe. Some say it is due to favoritism on the part of the founder, Drop, but they are probably just jealous.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Youngest soloist in Velvet Mists' history.

Morality & Philosophy

Despite her leanings toward good, and her steadfast refusal to turn burglar, Mist can't help "collecting" small shiny objects and buttons, regardless of who actually owns them at the time.

Personality Characteristics

Virtues & Personality perks

Charming and charismatic, she has a bright smile for everyone she meets (well, almost). She has a sunny disposition and does not often hold grudges.

Vices & Personality flaws

Petty theft - Mist has a weakness for rings and other jewelry, as well as adding to her button collection. So far, she has only gotten caught once.

Hygiene

Mist is always scrupulously clean whenever possible. She often smells faintly of perfumed soap.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Cherished Shores Clan (Tabaxi)   Velvet Mists Performing Arts Troupe - Drop in a Pond (Tabaxi Male, director and founder)

Family Ties

Guardians: Swift Dream (Tabaxi Male), Shadow of a Star (Tabaxi Female), Dew on the Grass (Tabaxi Non-binary)   Found by: Chitter (Kenku Female)

Religious Views

Mist honors the traditional festivals to the Fey Gods, but finds the notion of worshipping them or dedicating one's life to them to be a very strange idea.

Hobbies & Pets

Gossip - Both gathering and spreading

Wealth & Financial state

Mist tends to spend money a bit faster than she earns it. She owes coins to most members of her performing troupe and all of her friends.

Lithe and nimble, this dancer and acrobat is tall and slender, with grey fur forming a background that shows off her red entertainer's costume. Her eyes are quick and seem to catch everything, and her ears are always twitching and moving.

Mist's Diary: Eve of the River King Festival
Eve of the River King Festival

I can't sleep, even with a few pints of the taverns good cider in me. Note to self: never order the special! Dress rehearsal for the River King festivities went off without a hitch. Chitter lent us her houseboat for stage. We're thinking of repainting it as a thank you.   Sozria was so showing off, wearing a brand-new cream blouse over her rehearsal costume when we went to the tavern. As if it wouldn't get all over sweaty and stained. She ended up losing one of the buttons too. Shame, really.   She was snarky as always, coming up with malicious reasons for me getting the lead solo. She even tied in Vardaga, as if we were best buds! He helped me once, and I didn't even ask for it. I can't stand the thief.   But tomorrow's performances aren't what's keeping me awake. A Tortle came in. Sobi, I think was his name. He'd brought a stranger from the Wilderness, a full-grown adult! Not like any creature we'd ever seen, either. Prof. Klauss said he must have just appeared, like babies do, and Sobi is now responsible for him (poor Sobi!).   I'm not sure the stranger, Hi, is quite right in the head. He calls himself a king, as if he were a fey god, and insists we all must have heard of him. He talks to his lizard, too. Maybe he's a wizard or something, and it is his familiar.   It's got me thinking, though. We've never had an adult appear here in Bunny Grotto before. And this Hi speaks of a village, of others like him. How could there be another village? There's nothing but the Wilderness, right? Can even the Wilderness go on forever, though? Maybe we aren't the only village.   It makes me wonder what things might be like, outside. I mean, I love dancing, and I'm already the best soloist in Velvet Mists Troupe. But then what? What if there is more? What could I be then?   Quill's letter is sitting on my dressing table, still waiting for an answer. I could ask him about the Wilderness, if he thinks there might be a Beyond. But then, he'd think I was interested. Am I? He's so strange, devoting himself to the nature spirits, as if they couldn't take care of themselves! And he's so scruffy! Still, he is kind, and funny, and maybe a haircut would suit him.   Too much for me to think about, frankly. I should try to get some sleep before the big day!   P.S.: My newest button in my collection is gold, with a design of intertwining vines. I quite like it.
