Mariner Valley Project

Construction beginning/end

An ambitious undertaking seeking to establish a capital city on Mars, similar though smaller to Severance City, the sprawling metropolis on Earth.

Seeking to increase productivity on Mars, the EUS began work on a series of massive hab-domes. during the decades to this, standard hab-dome production had been progressing at a steady rate, while the martian population had started increasing exponentially. Overpopulated hab-domes began failing due to power and oxygen expenditures and relocation efforts were chaotic and ineffective. The solution was the Mariner Valley Project, a new, massive home for Martians.   To organize construction efforts The Mariner Valley Citizen Effort was established by the EUS. Largely made up of notable, reliable pillars of the community the MVCE soon became the face of the project and was vital in the effective and careful execution of the project.   The project was a massive undertaking and pulled resources from throughout the EUS. Working conditions were harsh, but all involved seemed highly motivated to complete the project. The High Ruling Council of the EUS saw this as a chance to strengthen control on Mars, providing a local seat of power from which handpicked wardens would govern mars. Martians saw this as a symbol of Martian progress, their time to cease being a mere frontier and become a new Earth as it were.   Upon completion Mars had something they had not previously had, a common identity; a renewed sense of cohesion. Though no longer in power in Mariner Valley, MVCE remained as an unofficial organization, representing the citizens of the young city.
