Eryn's Story

Plot points/Scenes

  • (Maybe a prologue, then jumping into story)
  • King dies. It’s thought to be illness. It’s actually poison. He was assassinated
  • Yacob becomes king
  • War
  • Marked are recruited to be in army. Yacob doesn’t want the girls in the army but they – mainly Lexi – go all ‘It’s our duty’. He comprimises by getting her to go undercover as a spy into Grenier.
  • Lexi gets sick. Eryn has to go as she is the only one who matches the description and documents
  • Eryn goes through Aplon to Lastrein to hop on boat to get to Grenier
  • Shipwreck. Person to be Eryn’s contact dies in wreck
  • She gets found by Grenier army patrol.
  • Gets taken to Elmhan (Capital) and goes to palace to take the place in the household that was set aside for Lexi
  • Works as a maid
  • Befriends one of the Queen Regent’s (Sina) handmaids
  • Befriends a member of the hunt staff
  • Handmaid friend dies
  • She is promoted to become one of Sina’s handmaids
  • Proves herself by helping to translate during a tense foreign situation
  • Explores the city and forest with hunt friend
  • Learn info of the war and enemy’s plans, but she has no way of telling info
  • Is proposed to by huntsman. Accepts
  • Accompanies Sina and noble to a function in another city. Along the way, while camping overnight, they’re attacked by bandits
  • Eryn escapes into the Forest of Bones.
  • She gets attacked by some goblins, but manages to kill them
  • Covered in blood, she finds Inuifin
  • He tells her about Auran and the hole in the wall. He also tells her that in Auran there is a weapon that will end the war
  • He gets her to travel through to Auran
  • Eryn finds herself in a forest in the middle of the night. It’s raining. She has a whole moment of ‘oh, everything is so magical here’
  • On her way out of the forest she is startled by a Fellan
  • She manages to find an Orc village. They’re wary of her at first – thinking her to be a Fae
  • An orc named Yoella takes her in and helps her.
  • Yoella says that she knows nothing of such a weapon and tells Eryn to go to the nearest Hobgoblin city of Hadrin – a five-day journey. She warns Eryn to take the longer path, around the Bleached Marshes, but also says that doing so will add an extra three days to her journey.
  • Eryn doesn’t take Yoella’s advice, has an encounter with a white witch
  • Gets to Hadrin
  • Tries to find help, goes to the Torbell University of the Arcane Arts and searches their library for any info on powerful weapons
  • Discovers one – a magic staff, but it has been lost to the ages
  • She goes to drown her sorrows in The Fanged Fury and while there hears one the bard sing a song about a great hero - the last known person to have the staff.
  • Reinvigorated – she tries to discover what she can about this hero.
  • Meets a nerdy hobgoblin that worships the hero and believes he knows where this hero went missing.
  • Travels with the hobgoblin and a few others to find the staff
  • Part way into the journey, Eyrn realises that her Mark is inhibiting her and burns it off with a heated knife blade.
  • During their journey they have to enter a Fae forest and they meet a tribe of fae, who have taken a fallen celeste, Aëllo, into their midst
  • During this journey, Eryn becomes an excellent fighter and hardened to suffering.
  • Eryn becomes obsessed with finding the staff
  • They don’t find the staff.
  • Eryn leaves her party and travels by herself, following any sliver of hope that she might find the staff
  • She travels with centaurs, witches, fae, dwarves
  • The staff is still not found
  • Eventually she is summoned to the court of Sorcerers. They tell her that she must return to her world, as she is not of this one. She learns the truth of the creation of her world. How humans were only made to serve the dragons
  • In a fit of rage, she attempts to kill the head sorcerer.
  • Before she can reach it with her blade, they use their magic to reject her from Auran and she is returned to Brenner
  • She lands in the forest of Bones
  • Makes her way back to Bandoria
  • Many small Bandorian towns and farmland are burnt down
  • Makes her way back to Solaris.
  • The city is still up and running.
  • The castle gates are closed though and there are strange looking guards at the wall.
  • Using a secret tunnel, Eryn enters the castle to find it empty of life but full of corpses. Her family is nowhere to be found (her aunts, uncles and grandparents have been part of the slaughter)
