Birth Rituals
Execution
Before Birth:
Burnings to The Mother (thyme)
The grandmothers of the unborn will make Amalins (scone-like biscuits that are made with thyme)
The symbol of The Mother is worn on a necklace, as well as being painted over the doorway of the family’s house with the hopeful mother’s menstrual blood (Pre-conception)
The Birth:
The people allowed at the birth are female family members (of both the mother and the father), the father of the child, a priest/priestess of The Child, and a priestess of The Mother. A priestess of The Huntress and a priest of The Guardian stand outside the room.
A priestess of The Mother (who are all trained to deliver babies), delivers the child
The delivery takes place most often in the temple of The Mother (which is more of a giant house rather than a typical temple. However, deliveries can take place wherever the mother is in an emergency. Also, most upper class families have a birthing room in their house/manor/castle and births will take place there
If either the mother or the child dies during childbirth, the priestess of The Huntress takes care of the body
After Birth:
The child, once born is cleaned, blessed and introduced to The Child by xyr representative
Once the mother has recovered the child is taken to each of the temples, with the last one being that of The Lady. In the temple of The Lady the child will be examined by a Dragon Priest and if the child is chosen, they will mark the child with a dragon rune
