Xernos

Xernos is an ancient civilisation that has already collapsed. It was located in what is currently the Great desert in Gurun. The civilians of Xernos are commonly referred to as the ancients, as not much is known about them other than they were brilliant magic users. The entire country was wiped out in accident when a magic experiment backfired, leaking extremely dangerous levels of unstable magic to the surrounding area which resulted in the Great desert forming.
Some magitech from Xernos can still be found throughout Bremos, often referred to as an ancient artifact. There have been many attempts to recreate such magitech which, although resulting in much weaker magitech, is now the most common type of magitech. Ancient artifacts are extremely rare and thus invaluable to countries to the point where it is unheard of for an adventurer to ever obtain one.
