Summer Camp 2022 Pledge!

Written by Gasog

The time is upon us... Sumer Camp!   I'm really looking forward to partaking in Summer Camp this year and getting to see where everyone goes with this years prompts!

My Goals | Week 1 Homework

  • Read all the things!!! Or as many as I humanly can!
  • Copper! Or at least more than 4 articles (my total from last year's Summer Camp).
  • Get into a proper writing habit for my WA articles.
  • Expand Dolochán with as many prompts as I can.
  • Have fun! :D

Summer Camp Themes | Week 2 Homework

I have to admit I do love this years themes, they all have so much potential!

Expanse:

This theme goes really well with my ideas for Dolochán. There are still plenty of creases to iron out --including some very fundamental ones-- so hopefully the prompts will provide me with the right questions to help me figure it all out.

Leadership:

This theme will probably end up on Bréafír's surface more than in Dolochán. Writing this I'm really realising just how bare bones this world is so... Politics here we come!

Discovery:

Honestly this theme will probably have free roam of Bréafír as a whole. There's plenty to discover and I'd say these prompts will end up tying in with the previous two themes, but maybe I'll come up with a few stand alone ones to grow later on.

Monstrous:

Ooo the possibilities! What makes something truly monstrous? Its self? Or other's perceptions of it? I'm going to have a lot of fun with this one!

Planning | Homework Week 4

Writing Times

My schedule for July is a bit all over the place as per usual. Archaeology for the first 2 weeks, a scout camp potentially taking a weekend out of the mix, and helping a friend with a huge art project the last week means I'm going to be pretty tired.   I prefer writing later at night, but I don't think that's going to work out this time around so most of my writing will be done between 19:00 and 21:00 everyday apart from Tuesdays and Thursdays. This also includes an hour of reading other beans articles!

Support

I'll probably talk my best friend's ear off about all this, but she's not as into writing as I am so I don't want to pressure her into reminding me about things. So I'll probably end up roping my dad in to hold me toaccount because he is always at me to write more.

Giving the Support!

This year I'm planning on engaging a lot more with the community and sharing the summer camp cheer!   One of my biggest goals this year is to read, like and comment other people articles. Last year I said I would and didn't really deliver on that. So this year if I stick to any goal, it will be this one!

Mini-Meta | Homework 3

In being prompted by homework I've realised I don't actually have a lot of visual inspiration for Bréafír collected.
I do have a lot of auditory inspiration though!
In A Time Lapse by Ludovico Einaudi, is my go to playlist for writing.
Colm McGuinness Bréafír is primarily based on Irish mythology so when I'm imagining up new ideas or scouring the internet for old tales to reference I often listen to Colm McGuinness' music.
While it's not all Irish inspired, his work is brilliant to listen to when being creative! He has also composed for a bunch of videogames and for Critical Role!
Here's another (albiet rather short) list of Irish and Celtic tunes I like to listen to when I'm looking for inspiration.
