Jeeven

The Jeeven are a species of near sentient parasites where each individual has a unique victim preference.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A Jeeven takes on one of three anatomical appearances, depending on whether it is hunting, moving, or feeding.
As a parasitic species, the Jeeven must first obtain a host- this is done by entering the attraction phase, where the Jeeven appears as a small, floating, many-pointed shape which sparkles without a light source; the curious nature of this phase intrigues sentient creatures (the favored host of Jeeven) and thereby draws them closer.
Once a host has been drawn, the Jeeven quickly shifts into a silvery flowing substance, which travels through the air to the host's face, where the Jeeven must attach itself for proper feeding.
Once over the host's face, the Jeeven morphs into the parasitic phase; this phase appears as a perfect replica of the face it covers, and slowly sends out tendrils which invade and take control of the host's brain.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Jeeven feed off of the natural Divinity found in many creatures; due to this source of nutrition, the preferred species of many Jeeven is a sentient one (as sentient species have more Divinity than non-sentient ones). Beyond this, each individual Jeeven will have oddly specific preferences for their hosts- some prefer short, blond Sypen , some prefer lithe, green-scaled, unmated Candyonen, and yet others will only hunt arrogant or perhaps chaste beings. These preferences of Jeeven have little to no consideration for the societal status of the host, but rather hinge on the physical and hormonal makeup of the creature.

Biological Cycle

Attraction Phase

During the attraction phase, Jeeven appear as a many pointed shape which sparkles with or without a light source, and floats a few arms above the ground.

Movement Phase

The movement phase- where the Jeeven takes on a silvery, flowing form- is a short lived one due to the high amount of energy it consumes, used only to move from a desolate to more suitable hunting ground, or to travel to the face of an attracted host in order to morph into the parasitic phase.

Parasitic Phase

The parasitic phase is the phase during which the Jeeven feeds off its host, sometimes without the host ever realizing it's being killed before it dies. The Jeeven is imperceptible on the face of its host, as it has replicated the exact minutiae of its hosts onto its outward facing skin, but underneath it is sending out tendrils which penetrate the hosts skull (usually through preexisting orifices, though later in the process tendrils may break through bone) and attach to the brain.
