The more time you spend with someone the more you get to learn about them. I’ve learned that Gwenda and I more similar than I expected, the cold and bright light have been causing her discomfort and given how small she is I can only imagine this is worse for her because of the deep snow. As much as the underground makes me feel uneasy, I would much prefer the watchful eye of Lolth over this hell of blinding light. As the night fell, I slept on the ridge overlooking the North men camp, my team decided to trust them, and I thought this would be a great learning experience to teach them about life. Like expected some North men were infected with the black sickness and after entering one of the tents a battle broke out. Smoke filling the area and all I could do was wait for it to clear and use the element of surprise to assist my team. Before the smoke could lift, I heard a chorus of shrieks from the battle, followed by a short silence that lasted too long. I’ve seen battle shock many times before, and even experienced it when I was much younger, it was Rainer’s turn to overcome it. In a state of panic, she cast a powerful spell that scrambled the brains of friend and foe, blood streamed down their ears, eyes, nose, and mouths as they died in agony. Usually battle shock happens to new, less powerful adventures, but the problem with Rainer is that she is incredibly powerful. This has led to the death of many innocent refugees who lived long enough to escape the north men but died before they tasted freedom. The battle caused the snow to loosen, and a deep rumble covered the valley, an avalanche was coming. I had very little time to instruct the wolf breakers to safety before the wave of snow swallowed them whole. This must truly be a cite full of power because a massive dome of magic held up all the snow and the wolf breakers were safely inside. I could see the distress in Rainer’s face, so I comforted her and gave her a symbol of Eilastree. If Eilastree can forgive and guide me after all I have done, she can also forgive and guide Rainer. Even still nothing could prepare us for what came next, Ally reveled that she was in fact the Queen in disguise.
