Session 81

Rainier   So, apparently this hasn’t been made clear yet, but I HATE water. I wanted to start tonight’s entry with that in case I forget later. Why is it relevant, you ask? Well, that would be because Ali sent us through a portal but wasn’t anticipating that Gwenda would start glowing, so she dumped us in an underground lake in what we later discovered was Bal Marath, a city of some sort in the Underdark. Speaking of Gwenda’s glowing, I also want to remind myself to research Torm once we eventually get out of here. Twice in as many days, I’ve seen Gwenda accomplish things I would never have thought possible just by somehow asking nicely? I don’t understand it yet, but I’m sure there is a book about it somewhere. Anyway. After Ali so kindly dumped us in the water, we made our way toward the singular twisting column we saw upon arrival, fighting several underwater ropers in our journey to shore. While the battle gave me a fun opportunity to experiment with our new ring of spell-storing, I unfortunately did not take into account the noise associated with summoning a lightning storm in a rather cavernous space. In hindsight, I probably should have anticipated that, but in my defense, and as I apparently need to state again, I hate water and wanted to take care of what stood between me and the shore as quickly as possible. At the very least, signaling our position did not put us in further danger- as far as I can tell- because we came across two surprisingly hospitable drow, Commander Tazlyn and battle mage Zeeryth. I say surprisingly hospitable due to the fact that I first met them while climbing through the window to their tower. Thanks to Arya’s ever-smooth talking, though, they decided to take us with them to what appears to be their camp for rest and, hopefully, more information.
