Session 61

Rainier   I had a good day. It’s one small point of light in what feels like a sea of darkness, and I can’t believe how long it’s been since feeling that way, but it’s true. After finally escaping that hell hole, we portaled into Caer Callidyr, immediately arriving in the Moonspire. Even from the top of the tower in which we arrived, we could hear festivities below. Much to Cormag’s delight, the city was celebrating the coronation of the queen, meaning her original plan to abdicate her throne and hand it to the Steward did not come to pass. In celebration of this, Cormag summoned a small (in number, not in size) pack of direwolves for us to ride through the square. I’ll admit, I showed off a bit in this procession by standing on the back of mine, but it felt nice to put aside our responsibilities for a short while in favor of some good old-fashioned flaunting. The end of our parade found us back at the Gooseberry Inn, where a paid-for room- as well as apparently the first of multiple payments for our efforts- awaited us. The rest of the group wanted to go back out to enjoy the festivities, but after the journey we had, nothing appealed to me more than the pages of the golemancy book I had had stashed away for some time, waiting for a time of actual rest to learn. It seemed like the others had an equally enjoyable night given the hangovers they woke up to the following morning, so I went downstairs to get them all breakfast, but when I did, I found Morvar and Captain Tenevin at a booth, assumingly waiting for our report on the events in Walsbury. Wanting to savor the last peaceful moments of the morning, I returned to my companions with their meals before informing them that our respite appears to be coming to an end.
