Session 5

General Summary

Merak’s amusing musings.   We came across another band of goblins, killed ‘em all and their crabs. Looted their bodies too; the gold was happily added to the please-unkill-us fund. We made it out alive, can’t say as much for the people in the huts the goblins raided; all dead. More loot though. After eating another helping of crab (I think I’m actually getting sick of crab at this point) we headed towards the north end of the island. I headed past the party to scout out the landscape: Three hills and a watchtower at the end. I’m pretty sure watchtowers aren’t natural. The pirates around the tower and the docks at the base of the cliffs next to the tower led strength to my theory.   I made my way back and the party decided they were going to send me and the fish out to swim near the docks to further scout. I’m always down for a swim but they also mentioned black tips… Anyways after setting up ‘camp’ off the road and sleeping on the cold, hard ground we woke up early in the morning and made our way to the shore. Swimming up the coast I got a look at maybe 6 or so guards. We could take them on with surprise on our side I think. The docks looked very organized. They had boats overturned on the beach to act as walls and they had a crane set up on the pier. They had been there for a while. I also saw 3 ships further north anchored out. That’s about all I got to look at before 3 sharks beelined for me and the fish, driving us out. After we met up with the druid he mentioned there were about 50 pirates total. I like our odds a bit less than I did before.   We decided we couldn’t face the pirates head on, so we waited for nightfall. The druid told us there’d be a storm as well. We decided to just swim under and over to the crane, grab the chest, and grab out. The main problem was the sharks… or at least they would have been if Mishmish hadn’t just straight told them to fuck off, which they did. Should be smooth sailing from here. Grab the chest and grab out. Instead the opposite happened. The chest grabbed us, with black tendrilly hands. What a twist. We couldn’t even pry the chest loose when I was informed that the pirates had spotted us. I don’t understand how that could have happened, we should have been at least concealed enough by the water and darkness and rain that we weren’t anything reportable, so unless some idiots actually broke the surface we should have been fine.   What did I do to deserve this.
