After the explosion at the castle, there was more tension between us and Lady Verna than between the open jaws of a hungry alligator.
We let the Lady and the Steward walk ahead while we (by we, I mean the nosy ones) looked through documents in the study. Tax charts, castle fortification plans, family histories, letters between nobility, and a map with notes on it. Family history that seems important to remember: Alicia has a sister, Deidrre, and Morvar is listed too, but I’m not sure what connection he has to the family. Seemed like standard documents overall, except for the note with a black seal that burst into a flaming skull. I really don’t need Bhaal and Cyric in on this Northmen situation, but I guess since the Northmen are acting like they are, it makes sense that their choices might be guided by such ruthless gods.
Now Lady Verna doesn’t want us going anywhere without guards keeping an eye on us. We went back to the inn, where Cormag decided to let himself go and Arya went to schmooze with one of the guards. We had a visitor - Morvar invited us to talk the next day. We accepted the invitation, but we had to plan our routes to the location carefully since there is a pretty heavy patrol set up through the city at the moment. I went with Rainier, which started out rocky and more than mildly terrifying, but after a brief moment of being fused into a wall, we got there!
Here we are, waiting to see Her Majesty. I pray she has a good head on her shoulders, and that she is willing to be open with us.
