Session 2

General Summary

Recount of Events - Cormag   Day 3 of Debt continued: After days spent chained on those gods forsaken ships we have docked at a town apparently run by pirates, at least the chains are gone although I can still feel their weight in the magical brand seared into my arm. With nothing but rags and a single sword we are supposed to pay 55 gold each, which apparently i've been told is alot, by the end of the week. to remove them or we will be hunted. Truthfully I have no idea what to do here, i'll have to rely on my fellow captives. Their names are Kara a Tribal Goliath, Mish Mish a very mysterious triton woman who tells the best stories, and Merak who of everyone is the quietest of the bunch so far. Kara at least is heading into town with a determined stride maybe she will have a plan. She might be smarter than she looks even if I get the feeling i'm going to be healing her alot.   She didn't have a plan. She just wanted to drink. Also she broke her arm again.   Following her we ended up in a tavern called the “Salty Rag” a fairly rundown inn that looks like it has been made from a couple shacks all pushed together. My first concern was getting Glongle warm, she has been running a severe fever that last few days and im worried she might not make it unless I can get some damn supplies here. It also appears that they don't know what water is here, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY IT, for when I asked for some water to help Glongle all I received was a blank look, a strange people indeed. I got her settled and warming and helped feed her some delicious rock cakes made by the proprietor Fidrir, the only good thing about this place so far, when we met a curious halfling by the name of Gwenda. She overheard us speak of the events of Baldur's Gate and appeared to have some connections she was worried about there. After we all talked for a while Fidrir appeared again devastated that “all the rum was gone” (Trademark Disney). Which honestly didn't seem like a problem I tried some and it was a vile drink. However after my compatriots went downstairs to inspect it out of curiosity I followed. As we inspected the room I noticed that there were scratch and bite marks on the back of the casks, after a quick inspection I believed them to be rat markings. Which proved true a moment later when we heard screeching coming from a hole in the back wall and a giant rat popped out of it. He was adorable, thought he was so vicious, I just knelt down pulled a bit of food out and with the help of a little magic reached out and calmed the poor creature. Unfortunately he was not the only one and while I was happy to save one the rats that poured out of that hole were clearly tainted and wrought with disease. With a lot of help from Kara’s trusty frying pan (we really need to get that woman a sword) and Gwenda’s mighty warhammer, we put them all down, a sad but necessary duty as their corruption should not be allowed to spread, but I still wondered what had driven these rats to such strange behaviour. Hopefully my new friend Ragnatoskr will be able to shed some light on the situation. Nevertheless Fidrir was pleased and in return fed us and gave us free rooms, which was very kind of him. However Glongle was still in very bad shape and i needed to get some medicine to help cure her. I hate not having my supplies, still i needed some help and Fidrir knew of an alchemist named Fepni who could possibly help us. As we searched for her we were approached by a women who said that her son was very sick and needed help. Gwenda agreed with me that I should see if I could help but the others took some convincing, which bothered me as why would we not help the poor boy. Anyway I followed the woman to her home and inspected the boy, and i'm very glad I did. The boy was not sick but had been poisoned with a very potent magical poison and he only had perhaps a day to live. Saddened because of my inability to help i asked where this might have happened. Apparently it occured right after he returned from the north shore. If I can help this boy i would like to, i'll have to convince the others to help me check this out. For right now though we left as we needed to find this alchemist to help Glongle and potentially the boy though i doubted he could be saved. Fepni turned out to be a rather strange woman who rode an old donkey named mavis. She believed she could craft a cure for Glongle if we collected a rare herb for her in a cavern not far from here. Although I thought she was exaggerating her abilities, I did not believe she was outright lying to us. So we went and found this cavern which was full of bats, luckily we managed to creep past them without making too much noise, and found our way through the underwater passage to where the herb grew. Mish Mish was extremely helpful with this as she distracted the local wildlife and helped guide us through the passage. Collecting it was fairly simple and we made our way back out of the cavern to Fepni. She happily traded us one of her cures (although I fought for two I was outvoted) and 35 gold for the herbs and told us to return tomorrow to collect the cures. From there we returned to the inn ate some food, checked on Glongle and went to bed with many disturbing questions left unanswered.   Addendum: Unfortunately not much to say about Merak as he was strangely quiet all day, perhaps he had a sore throat.
