Session 119

Rainier   It feels as though a lifetime has passed since Dramik and I studied in the tower together, and it appears I’m not the only one who has changed. I know Dramik has always looked up to his father, but it pains me to see the lengths to which he has gone to follow in his father’s footsteps. In some ways, I regret that my attentions caused him to stumble at a time when he’d normally be composed, but I also hope it served as a reminder that what Lord Wellspring cares about above all else, even above his own son, apparently, is control. Perhaps that fixation truly comes from a desire to protect the ones he cares about, but I have known many men like Lord Wellspring before, and the result is always the same: innocent people get hurt. I want more than that for my old friend, and I hope that Dramik can find his way back now that the coup has been stopped- momentarily, at least.   For now, though, I must turn my attention to the conflict at hand (though at another time, I am going to thoroughly pick Kara’s and Gwenda’s brains about the lore they uncovered regarding Kara’s hammer). If my vision while telepathically linked with Katla is to be trusted, the God of Murder may be the enemy we’ve been facing all along, lurking in the shadows as he rallied his forces. With Lady Verne- now officially titled- off to ensure the support of her soldiers, and Lord Wellspring on house arrest following his failed coup attempt, the leadership of Caer Callidyr is dangerously close to fracturing. It feels poetic, almost, that the wards have done just that as the Northmen have made their first move on the city. Gwenda and I were just startled awake by a message from Cormag, informing us that the Earth Mother’s Leviathan just defended the city against the Red Rage and that the time we’ve known was coming for so long is finally upon us. It’s time to protect our friends, this place we now call home. I hope I will get the chance to write about it soon.
