emidnd: 01 Report

General Summary

the scene opens with alton window shopping at a jewelry shop. a salesman is trying to persuade him into buying some expensive earrings. alton insists that his father specializes in earrings. alton asks if he's selling any of the popular color-changing mood rings.   abaerdeen is seen walking by, asking various people on the street for help with a problem. she's being repeatedly turned down.  
alton: wait wait wait wait-- hold on. i'll be back.
shopkeeper: i can save these for if you like--
alton: no.
  alton runs after abaerdeen. they introduce themselves to each other. abaerdeen is looking for someone to help drive monsters away from her home. alton agrees to help.  
alton: is it just gonna be me?
abaerdeen: i was gonna see how many people i could round up, but ...
abaerdeen: judging by my track record ... don't get your hopes up.
alton: well, MY hopes? they're up.
abaerdeen: ... got it.
  they decide to check out the bar next door. patrons give alton a weird look, otherwise no one says anything. glancing around, the group notices a tough-looking cowboy and asks him for help. vaughn is not keen on helping unless he gets compensated.  
alton: do you want ... money.
vaughn: i'm looking. for my horse.
alton: ... okay
alton: ... can money ... help with your horse.
vaughn: i want. my horse.
abaerdeen: did you lose your horse ... around here?
vaughn: don't know where it is. i'll take money.
alton: how about if you help, we could help find your horse after this ...?
vaughn: ... plus money.
alton:
abaerdeen: yeah sure
  lorea has been eavesdropping this entire time. she "accidentally" spills a drink on alton to get his attention. alton is mad - his shirt cost a lot of money. he's crying.   lorea can't pay for it because she's homeless right now. she agrees to come with and help.   they leave town and head to abaerdeen's house, venturing down a well-traveled path and eventually veering off into the woods.  
alton: i wore the wrong boots for this ...
vaughn: shoulda worn better boots.
alton: now my whole coat is wet and i'll have to carry it around and my scarf can only do so much right now--
vaughn: shoulda worn better boots.
  abaerdeen explains that the monsters she had been talking about were bees. very angry bees. some very large bees. they've been hanging around her potion shop, driving away visitors.   alton spies a cloud of bees in the distance. he tells the party. vaughn tries to tell if there is anything magical about the bees. he can tell, based on their movement, the bees are normal but have been influenced by something magical. the magic also reminds him of his horse.  
vaughn: we shouldn't fight em'.
lorea: ... you wanna explain that?
vaughn: they're magic bees. lead to the horse.
  vaughn wants to capture the bees and then use them to lead them to the real threat. he wants to wrangle them. the group decides to sneak past the bees in order to retrieve a jar from abaerdeen's home to capture them in. the bees notice abaerdeen and vaughn and attack.
