Morska, Goddess of Transitions

Overview

Morska is the solemn Goddess of Transitions and Rivers. Few among the Gods travel more than her, ever adrift celestial rivers and seas she ferries the dead towards their final destination. Her vessel was the first created and she shared it's secrets with mortals so that they too could travel far and wide across the waters. Ever watchful she uses her lantern to guide those who are lost towards their destination, though sometimes this destination can differ from what the living hoped it'd be. She thought mortals that death is not to be feared, but celebrated as yet another journey and adventure to undertake. All that wander are under her care and protection, though those that earn her ire find themselves lost, wandering forever.   She is often depicted as a hooded woman in beautiful grey and blue flowing robes waiting on a dock or near a doorway. She holds a lantern to guide the living back towards the waking world and the dead towards her vessel. Beneath her robes she wears half-plate and with her flail she smites demons, undead and pirates atop the Styx. Sailors say that beneath her robes her lower body is that of a fish, depicting her as a mermaid guiding those that drown back towards shore.

Followers

Her followers are widespread, commoner and nobleman alike pay tribute to her. Her followers bless journeys of all kind and undertake their own as a means of finding their own path in life and finding wanderers in need of guidance. Sailors pay particular tribute to her and constructing lighthouses in her name to help guide them back to shore. Others are grave keepers that bless graves, put spirits to rest, tend to ancestral records and the history of their community as a means of preserving all that died before them. Among them are those that help ease the pain of death for both the living and the dying as death shakes both the living and the dead to their core. Many of them are grave keepers that tend to ancestral tablets and record the history of the community they preside in. Her followers are travelers, sailors, wandering merchants, explorers storytellers, grave keepers, spiritualists, and record keepers.   Favored Weapon: Flail   Alignment anathema: -

Temples

Her temples are places where transitions are celebrated, endings and beginnings. Be they the coming of age rituals, journeys or the passing of seasons. With the passing of the year they celebrate the old and welcome the new. Portions of these temples are solemn places that prepare both the living and the dead for the transition into the afterlife. Near coastal areas her temples double as lighthouses, guiding all towards their community. A shrine to her exists in nearly all graveyards, containing the names of all who were once buried there. A lantern is ever lit near doorways of temples and shrines so that both the living and the dead can find their way towards her for guidance.
