Gnome

Gnomes trace their lineage back to the mysterious realm of the fey, a place where colors are brighter, the wild lands wilder, and emotions more primal. Unknown forces drove the ancient gnomes from that realm long ago, forcing them to seek refuge in this world; despite this, the gnomes have never completely abandoned their fey roots or adapted to mortal culture. As a result, gnomes are widely regarded by the other races as alien and strange. Not native to this realm and far from ideally suited to life in the mundane world. Standing small like a halfling but with long pointy ears and wider eyes.   Because of their heritage, gnomes have difficulty coping with and accepting this reality, and must therefore constantly strive to innovate, dream, and take in new experiences. Those who fail to do so become bored and slowly accept our reality, succumbing to a condition only experienced by gnomes: the Bleaching. Slowly lose all color in their hair and skin, and eventually succumb to dementia or madness, and death. Those few who survive this ordeal become bleachlings. Because of their constant need for new experiences, gnomes are perceived by other races as being erratic, chaotic, daring, and innovative.   To the gnomes, action is always better than inaction, and many gnomes carry several highly involved projects with them at all times to keep themselves entertained during rest periods.   Gnomes are a rare sight in human lands often passing through in search for other ventures and experiences. They are often found near elven lands, living alongside their fey-like kin. Meanwhile the more industrious ones live within dwarven lands.   Forest gnomes are more common in the Zelenan Weald where they have a Kingdom of their own, Alsporen.   Rock Gnomes are often found amidst dwarves.
