Blackbreach
Blackbreach is a small penal colony in the new world. After it was discovered that the High Elves left behind much of their technology, the town became a Hunter's Guild hub.
Demographics
Blackbreach is a varied agglomeration of many species ranging from primarily humans, to the few goliaths in the guard, to the many halfling farmers.
Government
Blackbreach is run under martial law as it is a penal colony, although many of the folk are ex-convicts who have established their life in the new lands. Hence, a majority of the folk are lower class and downtrodden save for the few elite who are representatives of the League of Dawn.
Defences
The guards of the town are plentiful since it is a penal colony, although there is little in the way of permanent defences aside from a single watchtower at the edge of town.
Industry & Trade
Blackbreach is mainly self sufficient, but exports ancient elvish artefacts for analysis back at the mainland.
Infrastructure
Blackbreach is well known for its main castle, Fort Praxis on Blackrock, a large tower that boasts a view far into the sea and far over the settlement and surrounding lands. The roads are mostly pebbled stone, although some of the main roads are properly built path. Aside from this, dirt roads extend to the farms and between hovels.
Assets
In Blackbreach there is few stores as it has a relatively low population. Most notable is Sherry's Potionstore, the main source of magical components at a merchant's price. There is also The Backwash, the main gathering place for the townsfolk, and The Markets where the farmers sell their stock.
Guilds and Factions
The defining feature of the town is the Hunters Guild. This guild is a government established body where selected adventurers are enlisted to seek out the ancient elvish artefacts for the war. The guild is mostly respected, and is prestigious in that those who don't want to fight in the war often try to enrol as a Hunter, although few make it in.
Geography
The town is situated on volcanic ash from a nearby active volcano. As such, the fields are highly fertile. A river runs through the main part of town and provides clean water for its citizens. The harbour of the city is within a bay underneath the cliffs that Fort Praxis sits atop.
