The Pterobird (tehroa-bird)

The Pterobird, as an Apex predator

  • Settlers were hunted by the beast
  • Nomads developed strong and even potent ways to shoo off, or "exterminate" the beast
  • yet, regardless of the attempts the Pterobird still survived
  • The Pteroid adapted to all environments, whether it was wind or shine.
If an apocalypse were to happen in your world, what creature would survive to come out on top?

That would be the Pterobird

Very resilient and versatile and can adapt anywhere, why, they are often known to eat unwary scholars, and are also known to attack a random clignesman due to a shiny trinket.
  • Known to build their nests and dwellings at the top of mountains
  • when they are in distress thety retract and when they are injured they will retreat
  • of course, Dragons are known to be big bullies and would eat Pterobirds in an instant.

There was a royal in Arebothe..

He happens to be on his garden terrace, just enjoying the day, but then, he hears a screech. A pterobird has spotted his shiny trinket about his neck, this royal happens to be a clignesman. one of great strength and endurance, The royal jumps off the roof and ignores the creature, The Pteroid dives and the royal ducks, But the local dragon sees whats happening, lunges his long neck out of the river, snaps his jaws down and swallows the poor thing in one gulp.   Of course, Dragons are Spiritual Beasts, they are not creatures, but Spiritual beasts. If the question was worded differently then, we would have a seperate conversation.

When a scholar was on Expedition...

The scholar was hoping to get close to the Territoral Pterobird, however, the Pterobird decided to play with the scholar. He let the scholar get close to him, decided to show off. coax the scholar to turn his back, and when the Scholar did the creature snuck up to him and bit down on the poor fool. The scholar's party wondered where he was and went to the territory. The pterobird was nowhere to be found and the scholar's belongings were lost.
  • The creatures are Apex predators, scavengers, oppertunists, and resillient hunters
  • When a tsunami hit, the pterobirds flew up and around, looking for different food grades.
  • They are extremely intelligent, and they easily adapt to new surroundings
When the cradle of Windsor erupted, The pteroids made way for new dwellings, scattered within the mountains, wether they are high up or down low. In colder climates they tend to have very long hair covering their body and in the desert they have little to no hair.   Some even live near the seaboards and surround villages that are small. often found withing cave bluffs and sea windows. They will dive down into the deep waters of the land, whilst staying away from any threats to their well being. Even if they are cleared out of villages, citiies, and towns, They will hang around, flying over and high above the human settlements, they are large vultures, carrions, and omens.
"Ancient Legends speak of a large bird, that existed long before Man and other beings settled the surrounding land. THe races were ultimately hunted as prey, as food."
