Threnodism

Threnodism is a Descendantist faith most wildly practiced throughout Agartha. It focuses on the worship of all the deities lost in the Unification of the Gods in the form of memories, who Threnodists believe still hold power due to their former divine nature. The only Threnodict deity that exists outside of memories is Our Lady Etalle, who acts as figurehead and recollector of the Divine Memories

Mythology & Lore

Threnodism places a large amount of power onto memories, especially those divine in nature. Practitioners never worship a single individual deity (save for Our Lady Etalle), but rather the domains of which multiple deities were part of throughout the Known World.

The Divine Memories

A non-exhaustive list of the memories worshipped by Threnodists:
  • The Memory of Wind - Deities of the sky and weather, including Zeus, Stribog, Dyaus Pita, and Kon
  • The Memory of Sea - Deities of the ocean and water in general, including Neptune, Tefnut, Sedna, and Mẫu Thoải
  • The Memory of Spud/Earth - Deities of the ground and harvest, including Bhumi, Demeter, Asase Afua, and Cikap-kamuy
  • The Memory of Forge - Deities of the forge and fire, including Ogun, Nay-Angki, Hephaestus, and Black God
  • The Memory of Above - Deities of celestial objects and wisdom, including Isis, Athena, Hëna, and Sol

Divine Origins

Our Lady Etalle is believed to be a goddess that somehow avoided or came back from the Unification. Theologians believe her to be a deity of South American origin, most likely Mama Qucha of Incan mythology.
