The mechanization of armed forces defined the conflict of the Second World War. The early lightning advances of the Wehrmacht, or Blitzkrieg as it was labelled by Italian Journalists, were enabled by the motorization of combat forces at the focal point of an attack (the Schwerpunkt in German military ideology).
Although the German military pioneered the combination of mechanized forces and military doctrine by tacticians such as Heinz Guderian, it was the Allies that would show the true potential of mechanization of their military structure.
Even at its height the German Wehrmacht still employed vast numbers of horse-drawn transportation. By the end of the war, the German army had employed up to 2.75 million horses, this was only surpassed by the vast army of the Soviet Union's 3.5 million horses.
A reliance upon horse-drawn transport meant that the advancing Panzer troops were tied to sluggish supply trains that relied on the speed of their horse-drawn limbers, or the troops marching alongside them.
While the Allies relied on a vast army of Trucks, to transport the all-important supplies to the front line.
But the ideology employed by the major powers also affected the influence of Mechanisation.
The Allies consolidated their material advantage on the mass production of a limited number of combat vehicle designs, with minor design changes during the war. The Germans on the other hand evolved a vast number of vehicle designs and modifications, which complicated manufacturing as well as supply lines which had to cater for spare parts for a large number of different vehicles.
Curiously German combat vehicles were far superior to their Allied counterparts but were built in limited numbers because of their complex engineering and the need to facilitate the production of other combat vehicles. For example, 8,553 Panzer IV vehicles were constructed during the war. This included the variants built on the Panzer IV chaise, such as the StuG IV, Jagdpanzer IV, Brummbär (Sturmpanzer IV), Nashorn, Wirbelwind, Ostwind). While the Allies manufactured 49,234 M4 Sherman tanks.
Standard Equipment: It is assumed that all vehicles issued by the military come standard with the following items mounted on, or stowed within the vehicle: A mechanical tool kit, crowbar, heavy jack, pick & shovel, fire extinguisher, 10ft x 10ft canvas tarpaulin, Spare Wheel (tracked vehicles include several spare track links and replacement running gear wheels).
Experimental Rules: All of the stats and rules presented in this section are a Work in Progress, and are provided "as is" in this experimental state. If you find anything at fault, please contact Tailz (on the studio Discord Channel) as he is more than happy to discuss changes and updates.

ARMOUR VS PENETRATION STATISTICS
Whenever a weapon with an armour penetration stat attacks a vehicle with an armour rating, roll a penetration roll. If the roll is greater than the armour value of the vehicle, the attack ignores the vehicles hardness. If the vehicle has no armour rating stat (eg: a soft skinned vehicle) then the attacker automaticaly ignores the vehicles hardness stat and may also roll for a critical hit chance.
The DC to penetrate a vehicles armour plate is determined by the facing of the hull or turret where the attack hits, for example an attack against the Front (F), Side (S), Rear (R), Top (T), or Bottom (B) of the vehicle.
