Bellenau

The continent of Bellenau is surround on three sides by the Soundless Sea, to the west is the treacherous Ethereal Highlands that cuts off travel to the rest of the mainland. Most travel to and from the continent is made via airship because some unknown monster prowls the Soundless Sea consuming any ship that dares to sail its waters. Travel through the Ethereal Highlands is next to impossible due to the terrible things that inhabit the mountains and its rumored that a terrible evil slumbers at the heart of the mountains. Despite being surround on all sides by danger the people of Bellenau live prosperous lives assisted by the harnessing of magic for practical everyday uses. Each major city has an air ship dock as well as stops on the lightning rail system that runs through the country and for the wealthy teleportation is the preferred method to get around. Each of the four major cities has a field that they specialize in: manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and magic.   Things weren't always peaceful in Bellenau though, roughly 100 years ago there was a tyrannical king who sized control of the land and subjugated its people. He used an unknown power source to create an army of terrible machines of war the likes of which had never been seen before in Bellenau. They were great titans made of living metal that could lay waste to entire towns in mere minutes and he also found a way to awaken sentience in automatons. There only purpose was to serve him with absolute loyalty and their sentience allowed them to act on their own without direct control of an operator. With the advanced technology of his army and the seemingly unending numbers of his troops all hope seemed lost for the people of Bellenau. That was until a team of the countries mightiest heroes was assembled to defeat the king and they took on the name "The Wardens of the Flame". They were able to track the king to his fortress in the Ethereal Highlands where they sealed him away at the cost of their lives. Once the king was sealed away his control over his army was broken, the machines of war fell silent and the automatons were no longer forced to fight. The people of Bellenau haven't forgotten the sacrifice that was made so long ago so that they could live in peace once more and to this day a monument with an ever-burning flame stands in the capital.   In the years since the the terrible kings rule the people of Bellenau have reverse-engineered a lot of the advance technology used in the kings army. It has allowed them to create wondrous things that have vastly improved the quality of life in the country. Travel is faster, food production is better, and magic is widely available. In addition the automatons, dubbed "warforged", have been integrated into society as regular citizens. Even though the conflict was 100 years ago and the warforged were forced to fight a stigma still surrounds them. Some people are worried that the king will one day return and when he does his army will take up arms for him once more. Despite that the warforged have contributed much to the society as a whole, some think its a way to repay the people for what they were forced to do while others think its because they were built to serve so they are just carrying out their primary purpose. The people of Bellenau have been able to enjoy 100 years of uninterrupted years of peace but lately people have been feeling slightly on edge for some reason. Its as if a dark cloud is starting to form in the distance to signal that a great storm is coming over the horizon...
