Halzun

The Halzun are an interesting race, originally reptilian, they have genetically drifted far from their origins and show more the traits of the gazelle and the armadillo plating traits that were spliced into some reptile species. While many have wandered from the origins, none as much as the majestic Halzun.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The most striking part of Halzun anatomy is their pair of large helix horns protruding from their heads. Typically protruding back at a 45 degree angle, this can vary slightly more upright or nearly flat backwards.

The head is shaped more like a gazelle, with the ears placed on the sides of the head near where a human's ears are placed. Ear shape can vary from gazelle-like to more canine.
A line of plating often decorates the nose ridge, and can sometimes be seen on the cheekbones and/or chin.
Reptile scales can be seen on the eyebrow ridge in some cases, a sign of their reptilian heritage.

Armadillo plating varies heavily down the back, some have a full back of plating, while others have a stripe of fur down their spine, or only some plating on the shoulders. This tends to be unique to families, and can be used to trace heritage in many cases.

The legs and arms are naturally thinner than average, but can still be very built.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Halzun often have a line of plating up their nose bridge to the forehead, and can be paired with scales in the same area. The eyebrow ridge sometimes is scaled or plated.

Fur patterns are often stripes or a single thick line up the face.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Halzun live in the Northeastern part of the Sea of Sands, with the majority living near the coastline and into Oasis territory.

The fur is typically earth or sand tones, with black and white highlights for their striping. Some more uncommon varients may have subtle red or gold tones.

Striping is often in the form of vertical lines on the face and down the spine, starting from the top of the head. Some variations on the facial marking may include horizontal striping near the eyes.
