Xoravia

The nation of frozen wastes and harsh weathers, The people of xoravia are often as harsh as their enviorment. The lands are harsh and the nights hostile, to an outsider the land of Xoravia seems to be a frozen hellscape and has little worth for anyone to live there, however to those of a keener eye there is much to be had in the wastes. Its mountains and valleys are reknowned for their mounds of gold, diamnonds, paltinum, adamanitine and dragonshards. these riches allow for Xoravia to remain a major political power and afford the magics and technologies required to make their land more habitable.   Heat is revered and loved in xoravia and those with the easiest access to it are often the most revered and highest in power in their society. signs of wealth are often indicated by dramatic lava waterfalls and moat and magical or tremendous displays of flame, often with blue flame indicating the highest of the high society. while Xoravia used to operate under a socialistic almost communistic/monarchy hybrid, now xoravia the new high king of Xoravia Yurin has rid the country of its socialistic values and instead estabished a economy based on systems from the rest of the world based from Platinum to Copper.   Hundreds of years ago Xoravia was ruled by a council of 7 silver and 7 white dragons who called themselves the Glacial lords. They enslaved the mortal races of xoravia making them mine the precious metals and gems from its caves and mountains day in and day out. What happened next is unclear but as the myth would tellit the great xoravian hero Kelever Dremverin pleaded to the gods for help and several answered granting him and his 7 warriors including, Scale bane, the obilteration staff, the Bulwark plate, the Wisp Cloak, two unknown artefacts and the flame hearth which still resides within the capital today. following this 13 of the dragons were killed and their leader the silver dragon Zelevinder was bound in the scorching chains, his wings torn off and kept in the 'scorching bonds', still kept below the capital to this day to forever wallow in his pain and regret   Then kelever named himself Kelever icebane and split his lands between the remaining five members of his band, the others whereabouts were unknown,and took the former rullling place of the council of the glacial lords and named it scales end, constructing it from the bodies of the 13 slain dragons. The other 5 holds would be named Fangs rest, Ursa keep, Grimalkin hold, Raven peak, Tusken Valley and Shoatevlen   The icebane family ruled for 978 years with many different kings and queens until after the battle of meridia when the current king fenrir icebane went missing and his wife had been killed during the conflict causing their half elf child, Rolam to take the mantle. He would prove a young and inexperienced ruler.   Soon enough the king would be challenged, as was ancient tradition of trial by combat for the crown. The Challenger was named Yurin Tolver, who gained a massive following his public outcry at the kings incompetence. He defeated and killed the king with a large maul known as winters Judgement in the trial and became the new ruler of xoravia. He choose to keep the jarls in power and rule over scales end by himself with a council of advisors and changed the economy to be more in line with the other nations of the world.   Prior to this point in addition xoravia was a member of the council of defence of the blackened wastes but following the usurping of the king, Yurin saw the others as weak demanded to turn their defensive strategies into offense and since that point xoravia is said to have been the only nation to actually recover land from the ever growing blackened wastes.   Xoravian ideals have always been the survival of the fittest and they do not consider race or gender an advantage or disadvantage in any way and measure each individual based on their own worth, though dragons and Dragonborn are still very disliked to this day based on their history.   Xoravian culture revolves heavily around honour and the glory of battle and they are conflict as but another test to hone their strength on. While not out seeking battle with a worthy beast or foe, Xoravians enjoy drinking heavily, poetry and music. They especially enjoy tales of the exploits of foreign warriors defeating mighty enemies or myths of the exploits of giants. Dance is also enjoyed too especially a particular form of xoravian dance named the Ordening swing, a dance done in order of smallest to tallest with each member doing a very expressive dance involving heavy drum beats backed with a flute. Games such as axe throwing, ice skating and Hot Iron are common in most places in xoravia.   Generally speaking the more northern holds of scales end, Ursa keep, and ravens peak are the more well off regions, while fangs rest, tusken keep and Shoatevlen while being the three largest provencies constantly find themselves under assault from any assortment of orcs, bugbears, rebellious kobolds and a resistance group known as the Redeemers who wish to free the dragon under scales end. This group consists mainly of dragon born kobolds and eladrin however many other races are members as well.

Public Agenda

The new king promises to destroy the enemy within the blackened wastes within the next decade and find the source of the threat. He plans to do this with his amassing army of new magical sorcerers who he is said to he creating in his keep and these specialised soldiers turn into beings known as hearth carriers

Assets

Gold, precious metals, gems, and dragonshards are all found in large quantities in xoravias well guarded mines and mountain's

Military

The armies of xoravia consist of frost giants, frost serpents and legions of goliaths, humans and snow elves. They use large tamed creatures including flying beasts such as wyverns. Their arsenal contains not many magic users but the ones who are are generally clerics or ice related sorcerers. Far north east there is said to be an entire legion of undead at the border of xoravia led by an unknown general of Yurin who keep the monsters out from the blackened wastes however such reports are disregarded by his majesty.

Technological Level

Xoravia imports many of its mages and technologies from other more wealthy countries using it's magical artefacts and wealth as promise for their service

Education

Colleges are rare in xoravia and often learning is simy done in the home. Those who seek arcane knowledge must head to any number of wizards in the capital or ravens peak or single college located in each. The military is generally where children gain their knowledge and learning as every citizen of xoravia must have 5 years of compulsory service in the army
