Redwind: The Silver Leaf

"Its not all about the money, if it was I'd be a merchant. It's always about the set up and the job. Money is just an excuse to do what I do..." Yoland Rewaida, 'The 99 ways to trick a dragon'.   Some people live their lives farming, get married, grow old and die without a hiccup in their life. And some go off to war and fight for a cause they barely believe in before they reach their adulthood. But some people don't wish to live that life. They see the wealth which hangs high above their heads and scowl at those who keep it from them. These people aspire to take this wealth for themselves. These people are often attracted to the Guild of the Silver Leaf.   Perhaps the most well known and notorious group of thieves all around Bavelion, the silver leaf is where you go when you wish to earn an illgotten fortune. Such a task is rarely easy as the silver leaf ignores jobs with a low pay out. When the silver leaf wishes to make it's Mark, the member will leave is calling card of a single silver apple.   The guild gets it's name from its location, which is located underneath the MoonTree in Redwind Just outside the capital of Xemir. The moon tree sprouts silver apples and leaves, which are said to be a magical fruit as a gift from ancient primordial entities. And it is said that once every several hundred years the tree will sprout a single platinum Apple, which will grant they who be worthy, a single perfect wish. It has long been known by the guilds enemies that the Guild resides below the tree, inside the great mountain which the tree is placed on. However not even the most powerful magics seem incapable of showing a way in to the guild, and the magic from the tree grants them a sort of magical protection from physical threats.   Originally founded by the master thief Yoland Rewaida, a Wood elf who is most well known for tricking a blue dragon into giving him his entire hoard for a peacock feather, and writing the book '99 ways to trick a dragon'. The guild is founded on 5 major principles referred to as the "Lyrics of the Heist" which go as follows:   1. Do not steal from those below your own wealth, such behaviour will infer the wrath of the grandmaster   2. Do not kill unless absolutely necessary, we are not an assassins guild. Killing a fellow member will result in a memory wipe.   3. Your own gains are not yours to keep. Your soul is bound to your Vein Siblings and their blood runs through yours. Equal distribution above Avarice.   4. We steal to tip the balance from the nobility to our favour, should it be possible assist beggars on the streets, for they posess knowledge useful to your escapade.   5. It is the fault of the system most often and not it's subjects, bear no malice againist those simply doing their job.   Whenever a group of new members is assigned to a job, a guild Root will assign them to a vein, a process that binds them together as brothers and makes sure they are as honest as possible with one another in order to ensure better cooperation, and in turn a successful job.   The ritual generally binds 3 to max of 8 to a vein, and involves each member drinking of sacred silver leaf tea which all enters their soul, connecting them equally as a vein. Veins generally operate on all missions together and often form great friendships or romances from it. In extreme cases a Vein Sibling can be assigned to a new or different vein, however such a process can be difficult and as such is avoided if possible. The process of creating a vein must be redone for all members if one is to join an existing vein, however if joining a new vein it is much simpler.   Generally members who wish to remain unrecognizable wear black and silver armor or garb with sliver masks. However this not a uniform and members may wear whatever they wish and simply operate as a member of the organisation.   At it's heart the Silver Leaf is an anti establishment organisation which is the eventual goal of the Guild. Their dream is an entirely equal world where thievery is not needed and currency is irrelevant. However the grandmaster Yoland is patient in the execution of his goals from his seeming longevity. As such the guilds only current goals is to carry out the grandest and most elaborate heist on who it seems worthy.   Those who become members of the silver leaf are bound as members forever to their vein and as such they may leave or move on but they shall always remain a member of the Guild unless they are personally wiped the Guildmaster. The process of wiping involves one who has betrayed or greatly dishonoured the Guild being brought before the roots of the moontree and the Guildmaster uses a secretive ritual to wipe the person's memory of ever joining the Guild or possessing any wealth they earned from it. They then go on to live a life ignorant of their past life as a guild member.

Structure

The guild leadership starts at the top with Yoland who is known as the Rootmaster, or grandmaster to most people. Yolands command is absolute and what he says is law in the Guild. Some have theorized that Yolandmay indeed answer to an even higher body above himself but such rumors remain not proven.   Below him there is the roots who are his personal agents and second in command to him. The roots look over the ritual of vein creation and get a sort of eldritch power of fey origin from the tree or Yoland himself.   The sap are the merchants and dealers who find the right buyers for any item salvaged in a heist. Typically the Sap operate in the Guild base itself and leave to bring their goods to and from it every so often. They offer their services to any fellow guild members for a price of course.   The Blade are the necessity espionage group who operate under Yoland directly. Typically there is one blade in every vein, and his or her status as one is kept hidden. While rarely chosen to actually kill fellow guild members and instead prefer to incapacitate for a wipe, blades have been known to reluctantly kill if necessary for the task.   And finally the Veins are the Main body of the organisation who carry out it's work. They carry out the heists and burglaries on the chosen targets which are most profitable and reasonable. Veins are required to split loot between them as to not promote greediness and creating a bond of friendship is encouraged.

Public Agenda

The Silver Leaf portrays it's desire to change the balance of power to the general public.   The guild operates through robbery and espionage to achieve its goals, only choosing high profile targets of nobility to prove their point.
