Hermalordship

Once Stryx, The Demi-God of Blood and Life-force grew enough power to ascend into demi-godhood he had a small following wanting him to bestow his blessing unto them. Stryx seeing that he could prosper with a cult worshipping him bestowed his blessing upon them however he saw that some of his so-called worshippers only followed him to attempt to steal the secrets of ascension from him. Angered by this betrayal he gathered every follower of his and gave them an ultimatum, become his children or die. The ones that denied were swiftly executed and absorbed of their life force, the ones that agreed followed the same fate but rather than being absorbed they were instead metamorphosed into beings known as Hermalords.
Hermalords are beings of pure blood, born from Stryx's own sacrifice of his essence. They take on the race and attributes of their blood's original body and attain their racial features too. Hermalords can only sustain on another beings life force and cannot consume conventional food. While these beings are made of a liquid they are hearty and tougher than their normal counterparts. While most Hermalords instinctively follow Stryx and his cult there have been some cases where Hermalords escape from the cult and become their own person. This life is dangerous but not implausible as many people mistake Hermalords for vampires being treated like scum and filth. Because of their mistreatment and competition over blood, most Hermalords and Vampires dislike each other with some vampire clans actively hunting down Hermalords and Cult of Stryx members and bases.

Author's Notes

In my previous rendition of Hermalords the creation process required a dead pregnant woman, I felt that it was a bit too morbid for my writing even if its about a being made up of literal blood.
